The Chicago Cubs are destroying the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Kyle Schwarber is the main reason for that.
Through his first season with the Chicago Cubs, Kyle Schwarber has been nothing short of spectacular. That’s something that has carried over rather seamlessly to the NL Wild Card game for the slugger, as he accounted for the first three runs that Chicago scored.
Schwarber only crossed the plate once, but he batted in Dexter Fowler in the top of the first and followed that up by sucker punching a two-run blast in his next at-bat.
Just watch, as you’re going to be seeing this one on a loop until the NLDS gets started later this week:
This isn’t just a home run to get the Cubs an even bigger lead over the Pirates, it’s the entire city of Chicago exhaling after years of holding its breath.
It’s not the World Series and that home run by Schwarber might end up being nothing more than a highlight when all is said and done, but Cubs fans are desperate for something to be excited about and this whole things going there way phenomenon is a new feeling. The Cubs might not be World Series bound, but they’re way ahead of schedule and having a helluva time in the postseason playing with house money.
