Welcome back to Last night in the WNBA Playoffs, a running post you’ll see throughout the next month or so as we march towards the crowning of a new WNBA champion.

Minnesota Lynx 77 – Indiana Pacers 71 (Series tied 1-1)

After dropping Game 1, the Lynx desperately needed a win in Game 2, and Karl-Anthony Towns was in the building to see them do it.

It was Sylvia Fowles’ birthday, but she gave the Lynx a present in the form of 21 points and 9 rebounds. Right from the jump she was getting into the game.

The first quarter of last night’s meeting was much prettier than its Game 1 counterpart. In fact, the whole game was extremely entertaining.

Maya came through with the big block.

Even seldom-used Natasha Howard was getting in on the action.

At the end of the first half, Maggie Lucas, who had played just four minutes up to this point, knocked down the clutch three and completed the four-point play to take the lead.

The Fever picked up right where Lucas left off, extending their lead to as much as nine early in the second half. Tamika Catchings scored seven points of her own in the first few minutes of the third frame.

It didn’t last long though, as Maya and company weren’t going to go down 0-2 without a fight.

The Lynx took the lead heading into the fourth, and they never let go. Two points was as close as the Fever could get, the Lynx holding them at an arm’s length for the whole final quarter.

JUMPMAN. JUMPMAN. JUMPMAN. Maya’s up to something. (It’s tying the series at 1-1.)
