Results and highlights from Bayley vs Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover: Respect

After tearing down the house in Brooklyn, Sasha Banks got her rematch for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: Respect against Bayley. However, these ladies were going to be competing in an unprecedented 30-Minute Iron Man Match and as the main event of an NXT Takeover special.

The two competitors spent the first minute staring one another down before finally locking up, trying to gain an early advantage. After breaking the initial lockup, they locked up again and Sasha gained early control and tried to score some quick pinfalls. Bayley then gained position and tried some quick rollup pins of her own, but to no avail.

The trading of pinfall attempts continued, only subsiding when Sasha hit Bayley with a big dropkick:

However, Bayley wasn’t down for long before she went back on the offensive:

There was then a big suplex and a scary moment on a bad landing for Banks:

The two continued jockeying for control of the match, though, and seemed to head for a show of respect in the middle of the ring with a handshake. Sasha was playing mindgames and threw Bayley to the mat:

Bayley was certainly angry after that and delivered some mean dropkicks on the floor, through the ropes:

Sasha fought back and then got the ref trapped behind her in the corner soon after. With the official’s view obstructed, Banks poked Bayley in the eye and picked up the first fall of the Iron Man Match:

Down 1-0, Bayley wouldn’t be held down and let out a bit of her mean streak. Banks caught her, though. Sasha then tried to hit her with the double knees in the corner, but Bayley countered. After some more counters from both women, Bayley hit her Belly-To-Bayley Suplex and tied up the match:

Sasha escaped the ring after, which turned out to be baiting Bayley. Bayley again went for the sliding kick through the ropes, but Sasha caught her and flung her into the steel stairs:

The Boss took advantage, throwing Bayley into the steps again and then continuing to wear her down in a big way. Throwing Bayley back out to the floor, Sasha took her up the ramp and threw the champ into the LED board at the top of it. Sasha then went back to the ring, stealing Bayley’s biggest fan’s headband on the way back. That was enough for a count-out and a 2-1 lead for Sasha:

Bayley somehow made it back to the ring before getting counted out, but the attack continued from The Boss. Sasha was vicious with kicks, submissions, and everything in her arsenal:

Yet Bayley wouldn’t submit or be pinned and eventually found an opening to roll Banks up to tie up the match:

An apoplectic Banks attacked the champ again, going for the double knees in the corner again. Again, it missed and Bayley fired herself up for some big offense:

The champ then hung Sasha upside down in the corner and hit her with a big springboard elbow drop:

Sasha somehow recovered from that and finally was able to land the double knees, but it wasn’t enough to get another pinfall:

The Boss got Bayley hung up again, this time looking for an inverted spear. However, Bayley raised up to counter it and then started attacking Banks’ shoulder and hand. The champ then used the stairs to hit a step-up clothesline on the outside:

Sasha fought off Bayley on the outside, though, sending the champ flying back into the stairs with a kick. The Boss then rolled back into the ring and tried a suicide dive, but Bayley caught her and sent her to the floor with a big Bayley-To-Belly Suplex:

Both women exhausted, they tried to get in any offense possible back in the ring, a struggle Bayley came out on top of with a top-rope Bayley-To-Belly:

However, Sasha got a foot on the rope before the three-count. With little time remaining, Bayley tried to pull out the big guns with a BayleyCanrana, but Sasha countered and then hit the champ with her own finisher. That wasn’t good for three, so The Boss locked in the Banks Statement:

With just seconds remaining, Bayley got out of the Banks Statement and tried again to lock it in. The champ reversed it into a her own submission that forced Sasha to tap with mere seconds left, giving Bayley the 3-2 win:

The entire NXT roster was waiting on the stage after the match and William Regal handed an emotional Sasha a bouquet while Triple H presented Bayley with a bouquet of her own:
