These five NFL teams should be put on upset alert for Week 5

For the past two weeks of putting NFL teams on upset alert, I’ve said that the Cincinnati Bengals have been in danger of being upset. They sit at 4-0 heading into Week 5. I’ve been predicting the Bengals letdown game that we should have grown accustomed to due to recent years, but that’s something that won’t be happening again.

This is far and away the best Bengals team that we’ve seen in quite some time. Andy Dalton is playing the best, most consistent football of his NFL career, the defense has been good enough to get the job done, and they’ve not even come close to a letdown game thus far this season.

Coming into Week 5, the Bengals have been the second best offense in terms of yards per game in football, behind only the New England Patriots. What’s most impressive is that they’ve been doing it behind a balanced attack, beating teams through the air and on the ground. Coming into Week 5, they’re fourth in the league in terms of passing yards per game and tied for seventh in the NFL in rushing yards per game (per ESPN.com).

Perhaps the biggest strength of the Bengals and why their offense has been so potent thus far is the strength of their offensive line. That offensive line has been consistently able to open up holes and running lanes no matter if it’s Jeremy Hill or Giovani Bernard carrying the ball. Moreover, they’ve been giving Dalton more than enough time to sit in the pocket and go through his progressions properly, allowing only two sacks on the year to this point.

The Bengals are for real. I highly doubt that they go on to finish this season undefeated, but I don’t see how you can walk away from their first four games of the season and think that it’s a smart idea to bet against them at this point. Quite frankly, just seems like an awful idea and one that I won’t partake in.

However, there are still several teams coming into Week 5 that are worth betting against. Whether that’s because they’re a good team in a bad match-up or because they’re a mediocre-to-bad team that is inexplicably favored by a relatively wide margin for this week, there are upsets to be had this week.

These are the five teams that you should definitely put on upset alert for Week 5 of the 2015 NFL season:
