3. New York Giants

Against all odds (sort of), the New York Giants come into Week 5 tied for the lead in the NFC East with a 2-2 record and are favored by seven at home as they welcome the San Francisco 49ers to town for Sunday Night Football. Despite the impressive performance recently from the Giants in relation to how unbelievably bad the Niners have been lately, I think you have to put New York on lookout for being upset.

To be completely fair, I have zero faith in the 49ers after what I saw from them last week, at least offensively. Colin Kaepernick looks completely washed already this season and for some reason the San Francisco team hates Carlos Hyde. However, their defense is still playing inspired football and could very well cause Eli Manning and company problems.

I realize that the Giants just came off beating one of the best defenses in football last week, but that was largely due to their defense coming up big and putting their offense in good positions to throw the ball against a secondary that’s vulnerable at times. I’m not sure the Giants have that kind of opportunity in this game and feel that this could come down to a defensive struggle. If that is the case, I don’t have enough faith in the Giants defense to say that they shouldn’t be on upset alert.
