Jadeveon Clowney is wearing a walking boot on his right foot the morning after the Houston Texans’ 27-20 loss to AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts.

According to the NFL.com’s Houston Texans Beat Reporter Aaron Wilson, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is wearing a walking boot on his right foot.

Clowney is dealing with a myriad of injuries after Week 5’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He played on Thursday Night Football with a shoulder and knee injury. Houston Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien listed Clowney as probable in Week 5.

Houston now sits at 1-4 in what has been the weakest division in football: the AFC South. Since being drafted number one overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney has only started in 6 games for the Texans. He has played in only 9 of a possible 25 games for the Houston franchise.

More from Houston Texans

Should Clowney miss significant time due to an apparent leg injury, the Houston Texans vaunted front seven will take a step back, at least on paper. However, since the Texans do have arguably the best defensive player in football in defensive end J.J. Watt, they should survive on that end of the football field.

Houston did manage to play respectably in 2014 with their top draft selection appearing in only 4 games. The Texans have also been able to carry on in the front seven with left inside linebacker Brian Cushing missing a combined 22 games in 2012-14.

The Texans may have a great ensemble of defensive players in 2015, but if they cannot figure out their quarterback situation, Houston could be looking at a long year in the AFC South. It is concerning now with Clowney’s growing reputation of not being able to stay healthy a full season. Expect both Houston and Clowney to handle this obvious leg injury with extreme caution.
