Just as early as Friday, there was some hope out there that Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch could make his return on Sunday to face the Cincinnati Bengals. Well, that hope is out the window now, as the team has announced he’s out for the huge showdown this weekend.

Friday, head coach Pete Carroll noted that Lynch was “close” to returning, but he never gave a specific timetable. Still, people speculated that Sunday could be the return date, especially since Lynch was a limited participant in practice on Thursday.
“He’s working at it,” Carroll said. “He got a little bit of work on Thursday at practice and got a chance to run around a little bit. He’s really close, but it’s a hamstring that’s been strained, so it takes a couple weeks for that to really be gone.”
Lynch suffered the hamstring injury back in the Week 3 shutout win over the Chicago Bears and he was unavailable this past Monday night for the game against the Detroit Lions, another win for the team. In his place, Thomas Rawls took the reins as starting running back.
