Tennessee pulls off major SEC upset, beating Georgia in Neyland Stadium
The Georgia Bulldogs took a major blow to their matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers and their 2015 season on the first play of the game when Nick Chubb went down with a horrific knee injury. Thereās no official word on Chubbās status, but judging by how the injury looked and how he looked afterwards on the cart and on the sideline, heās likely done for the rest of the season.
In a game marred by the Chubb injury, the Bulldogs still came out firing early on as they jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the second quarter. Joshua Dobbs and the Volunteers wouldnāt be denied, though. They fought back and got it within a touchdown at halftime and then the back-and-forth began.
Tennessee grabbed two more scores in the third quarter while blanking the Bulldogs in the process, giving them a 31-24 lead. A Greyson Lambert bomb to Reggie Davis tied it up, but a masterful drive by Dobbs put Tennessee back ahead. Reggie Davis dropped what would have been a touchdown pass on Georgiaās ensuing drive, but the Bulldogs then got the ball back and made a last-ditch effort to get the score. It was all for naught, though, as Tennesseeās defense bent but didnāt break in the waning moments to get the upset victory.
Three stars
Joshua Dobbs was absolutely incredible in orchestrating the upset for Tennessee. The quarterback finished with 312 yards passing and three passing touchdowns while also amassing 118 yards rushing and two more touchdowns to his credit on the ground.
Sony Michel was phenomenal for the Bulldogs after the unexpected and horrific injury to Chubb. He finished the day with 145 yards rushing on 20 carries, though he didnāt find the end zone.
Volunteers kick returner Evan Bailey showed up huge for his team in this game, averaging 34.3 yards on his three returns and helping Tennessee to win the field position battle.

Odds
Tennessee was a three-point underdog at home in this game, but obviously blew that up by pulling off the major upset of the Bulldogs. The two teams also combined to hit well over the 60-point over/under.
Next Week
Tennessee will have an opportunity to pull off another major in-conference in two weeks when they travel to Bryant Denney to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Georgia will be back between the hedges next week when they take on Missouri Tigers and look to move forward without Chubb for the rest of the season.
