University of Maryland Terrapins have bigger problems than their hideous uniforms

Nobody expected the University of Maryland to beat Ohio State in Columbus during homecoming weekend. On the other hand, nobody expected the Maryland Terrapins to flounder so badly this season.

Head coach Randy Edsall became so frustrated Saturday during his postgame presser that he got up and left.

Here’s the moment he lost his cool:

And, here is the press conference in its entirety. Well, at least as long as Edsall was in the room participtating:

Edsall’s temper flared when a reporter asked him if he normally goes around and shakes hands with the players while they were stretching. The implication was that the beleaguered Edsall may have been saying farewell to his players in case he gets fired soon.

Edsall’s response was animated:

"Have you been to any of the games since I’ve been the head coach here at the University of Maryland? If you notice I do that every single game. Every single game. Out of the respect that I have for these kids and what they go through. Every single game."

The way the season has gone, however, it is possible that Edsall’s days with the program are numbered.

Still, despite the loss, Maryland put up a tenacious fight against the top team in the nation, scoring 28 points, more than any other team has scored against the Buckeyes this season.

Though University of Maryland boosters can be heard applauding in the background after Edsall stormed off, it is clear that the head coach’s future with the team is uncertain. While the team has improved with Edsall at the helm, Maryland is still a mediocre team.

In 2011, Edsall’s first year with the team, the Terps finished an embarrassing 2-10. 2012 saw the Terps finish with another losing record at 4-8. Last season marked the first time Edsall led his team to a winning season, as the team finished 7-6. With 2015 off to such a poor start, it seems unlikely the team will finish the season with a winning record. Through Week 6 last year, the Terps were 4-2. This year, the team is 2-4 through Week 6.
