Maryland Terrapins vs. No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes

The University of Maryland Terrapins face a daunting task on Saturday as they face off against the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in enemy territory. The home-field advantage for Ohio State will be even more intense since the match up against Maryland is their homecoming game, a culmination of pep rallies, parades, and other events designed to pump up the already rabid Buckeyes fan base.

Ohio State is undefeated after five weeks having beaten Virginia Tech, Hawaii, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Indiana. Some of those victories have been frustratingly close for the national champions whose quarterback Cardale Jones and the rest of the offense have struggled with turnovers, penalties, and poor performance in the red zone.

Maryland is unranked at 2-3. They won decisively against both Richmond and South Florida, but were crushed by Bowling Green, West Virginia, and Michigan. There is little hope of a Terrapin victory against the Buckeyes, especially since Maryland’s defense has been largely ineffective so far this season.

Last year the Buckeyes beat Maryland in College Park 52-24. Though the Buckeyes are not fielding as strong a team this year, the Terrapins are also playing even worse than expected going into the season.

Still, the Buckeyes are always worth watching, especially their exciting defensive players, some of whom are sure to be drafted in the early rounds of the 2016 draft. Watching a lopsided victory can get boring, but scouting out potential talent for the NFL draft is always worthwhile.
