Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome leg injury on Saturday in the intra-divisional rivalry between the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers. On Georgia’s first play from scrimmage, Chubb carried the ball to the left sideline and was muscled out of bounds by defenders. As he was falling to the ground, Chubb’s left leg bent backward and he collapsed in pain.

Trainers rushed to the fallen running back and helped him to a training table. From there, the sophomore back was placed on a cart and taken to the locker room for an MRI.

As news of Chubb’s injury disseminated throughout the web, people on Twitter set aside their general snarkiness to wish the young man best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Chubb’s injury is a travesty on several levels. From a football perspective, it puts Georgia’s offense in dire straights. Greyson Lambert has been lukewarm, as have Sony Michel and Keith Marshall. Chubb was not only the focal point of the offense, but a prodigious talent.

On the personal side of things, Chubb has been known as nothing but a kind soul during his tenure at Georgia. He’s a humble kid and a hard worker – one of the nice guys in sports whom is easy to root for. Hopefully this doesn’t derail what figures to be a promising career.
