Rex Ryan gave Buffalo Bills players wristbands that said “yes sir” to remind them what to say to referees.
The Buffalo Bills apparently have some issues when they interact with referees. Their issues are so big, that head coach Rex Ryan had wristbands saying “yes sir” made and distributed to the team as a cheat sheet on what to say to referees.
“Rex Ryan has been trying everything, including wristbands that say ‘Yes Sir,'” CBS announcer Andrew Catalon said, via Syracuse.com. “It’s the only thing Rex wants his players to say to a referee after a penalty. Every player received a wristband, Charles Clay told us last night. Just a reminder to move on after the whistle.”

Doesn’t this highlight a bigger issue if you can’t tell a team full of adults and professional athlete not to do something, yet they continue to the point that you have to put a reminder physically on their persons?
But players won’t check their wrists before mouthing off to officials, perhaps there should’ve been a message on the inside of visors that players wear. That would certainly serve as an obvious reminder.
Ryan also implemented a push up program to try and solve the team’s penalty woes and to preemptively limit the amount of interactions they have with officials during a game.
