Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders

Despite all of the doubt heading into the season, the Denver Broncos have begun the season 4-0 with no sign of slowing down. Peyton Manning hasn’t been his usual high-powered self, but his weaker arm hasn’t hurt the team one bit, but it might down the line.

There is a running back controversy for the Broncos, however, as C.J. Anderson has been struggling while Ronnie Hillman may have won the fans over with a long 72-yard run for a touchdown last week.

Oakland is hoping for Derek Carr’s hot streak to continue and he certainly looks like one of the brightest young stars in all of football right now. He has passed for 922 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions while missing the better part of the team’s first game.

Watch out for Amari Cooper in this one as the rookie wide out has been key to the offense’s success, racking up 339 yards and two touchdowns on 24 catches.

Keys to Victory

Denver Broncos

Honestly, it’s not all about Peyton Manning anymore, as hard as that is to believe. The Broncos do have an elite passing attack, but the run game will play a huge role in this one. Deciding between Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson will be tough, but the true leader in the run game will emerge in this one — and many believe that will be Hillman. Ground and pound.

Denver’s defense will also need to contain the Carr-Cooper connection. If they can shut down the rookie receiver, Carr will have a tough time on Sunday afternoon.

Oakland Raiders

Carr will need to have one of his best games as a pro against a solid Broncos defense. The Raiders will also need to utilize Amari Cooper in order to have success. Latavius Murray is having a decent season thus far, so we can expect a decent game from him as well.

Oakland’s offense will need to do most of the work because slowing down Denver’s powerful offense, no matter how old Peyton is, might just not be an option for the Raiders. Playing at home is always an advantage for the Raiders, though.

Betting Odds

Line: Broncos -4.5
Moneyline: Broncos -205, Lions +175
O/U: 44

Prediction

Derek Carr will have himself a solid game in front of the home crowd at O.Co Coliseum, but Peyton Manning is still Peyton Manning and the veteran gunslinger will lead his Broncos to a 5-0 start, leaving all doubters speechless.

It will take a late-game drive by the Broncos, but they will score in the final minutes to take the lead for good.

Final Score: Broncos 31, Raiders 24
