The Seahawks are starting to take it to the Bengals
The Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals looked to be in a war of attrition in the first half of their Week 5 contest, but Seattle started turning on the afterburners in the second half. Thomas Rawls opened it up with a monster touchdown run and then the defense came up huge on the ensuing Bengals drive.
Cincinnati was running a jet sweep to Rex Burkhead and Michael Bennett absolutely tore through the line to blow up the play quickly. It was so quick that Burkhead hadn’t tucked the ball away yet and it came loose. Bobby Wagner was there for the Seahawks to pick it up and take it to the house for six points:
Despite their struggles in the first two weeks, this is the type of play that epitomizes why Seattle has been in the Super Bowl hunt perpetually in recent years. Whenever they smell blood, they have an uncanny ability to hit an extra gear and just demoralize their opponents.
The Bengals came into this game as one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the league and looking like legitimate contenders. As Bennett and Wagner just proved, the Seahawks defense has a way of changing those kinds of perceptions.
