California and Utah squared off this evening in a battle of two ranked Pac-12 teams.

The No. 23 ranked California Golden Bears traveled to Salt Lake City to take on the No. 5 ranked Utah Utes. This would be a big test for Utah going up against a future top-five NFL draft pick in Jared Goff.

Through the first quarter, Goff had a few ups and downs. He began with an interception on Cal’s first drive but rebounded two series later with a very nice 35-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Davis. However, the next drive resulted in yet another pick for Goff, making this a very uncharacteristic night for him already.

Devontae Booker of Utah would have the play of the first half, though. He pulled off an impressive 40-yard run to get the Utes their first touchdown of the evening to make the score 10-7.

Utah quarterback Travis Wilson began struggling in the 2nd quarter. He threw interceptions on back to back drives. However, he made up for it a short time later with a 54-yard strike to defensive back Corey Butler-Byrd for a touchdown to make the game 17-10 Utah.

Later on, Booker would add his second rushing touchdown of the evening to make the score 24-10. Goff came back a short time later with his second touchdown pass of the game to Darius Powe to make it 24-17.

Late in the third quarter, following a Utah fumble that was recovered by Cal, Tre Watson scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown to make the game 27-24 in favor of the Utes. A field goal later made it 30-24.

As Cal was driving in the fourth quarter, Goff would throw his fifth pick of the game. This seemed to be the end of Cal but after Utah punted the ball, the Golden Bears had one more chance. Unfortunately, Cal couldn’t convert on a 4th-and-5 at Utah’s 21 yard line. The game would end with Utah winning 30-24

Devontae Booker, Running Back, Utah – Booker had a fantastic game for Utah, rushing for 222 yards for while scoring 2 touchdowns. This was the first time Booker topped 200 yards this season.

Trevor Davis, Wide Receiver, California – Davis recorded the game-high in receiving yards with 92 and a touchdown.

Dominique Hatfield, Defensive Back, Utah – Hatfield came up big with 2 interceptions off Goff. This gave him 3 in the past 2 games.

Jared Goff showed off his NFL-ready arm with this touchdown pass to Trevor Davis mid-way through the first quarter.

Utah defensive lineman Gionni Paul would make a crazy, acrobatic interception on Goff, which marked his 4th pick at the time.
