Jim Harbaugh is at it again, this time quoting “The Lion King”

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has brought an instant culture change to the Wolverines, as they are now a dark horse to contend for the national title since they are now ranked 12th in the country with a 5-1 record. However, their recent success will be tested since they will have to face Michigan State, who has fallen to seventh despite holding a 6-0 record.

Harbaugh is already preparing for the big game against the Wolverines’ in-state Big Ten rival, and he quoted Disney hit film “The Lion King.” In reference to Michigan’s recent inability to defeat Michigan State, Harbaugh admitted that “the past can hurt.”

"More Lion King gold today from @CoachJim4UM: “Who said that? Rafiki? Rafiki! Wise words!” http://t.co/r5hI0SiV5e— Brent Yarina (@BTNBrentYarina) October 12, 2015"

This was a nod to a scene where the adult Simba is hit by Rafiki with a stick while reflecting on his running away. The goofy but wise baboon acknowledges that the past hurts.

The Wolverines have only defeated the Spartans once since 2008, as they accomplished this in 2012. They have failed to be contenders as they consistently were throughout the Lloyd Carr era, as Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke were both fired after failed stints.

The San Francisco 49ers front office’s failure to get along with Harbaugh allowed Michigan to capitalize and lure him back to his alma mater, where he will have the opportunity to guide the Wolverines to victory over the Spartans, who have been hyenas to them over the past several years.

Harbaugh has proven that he is well-qualified to be Michigan’s Simba and guide them back to Big Ten title contention as the lion brought Pride Rock back to his family. This will become an even more realistic dream if they can take advantage of playing the Spartans at home.
