In the wake of the news that Steve Sarkisian is no longer the USC head coach and in rehab, his mentor has offered up some words
On Monday, Steve Sarkisian was let go as the coach of the USC Trojans in the wake of the news that he was put on an indefinite leave of absence on Sunday by Athletic Director Pat Haden. Of course, as we all remember, one of the reasons that Sarkisian was brought into the program prior to the 2014 season was that he coached with Pete Carroll on those wildly successful USC teams.
With the news out there now that Sarkisian is no longer the Trojans’ head coach and he has checked himself into a rehabilitation center, Carroll appeared on the Dave Softy Mahler Show Monday and he had this to say about the situation surrounding his former protege.
Carroll on Sark: "This is an opportunity for Sark to get right and to get well...its not about coaching now..it's about his personal life"

The current Seattle Seahawks coach has the right idea here, something that not many people have had in all of this. While some tend to focus on the sport of football at the moment, the most important aspect in all of this is that Sarkisian is trying to get himself better.
This was not the only time on Monday that Carroll would comment on this. Earlier in the day he spent some time with ESPN 710 in Seattle and he had this to offer up.
“It breaks my heart to see how this has gone,” Carroll said via ESPN.com. “But he recognizes it and he’s going to do something about it, so this is the day the turn occurs.
“I’m grateful for everybody around him that he’s finally figured it out. … This is going to take a long time. This is big battle and we’ll pull for him all the way.”
Sarkisian coached at USC with Carroll from 2001-03, and then again from 2005-08.
