Twitter reacted in variety of ways to the news of Steve Spurrier’s retirement
On Monday night, reports surfaced that South Carolina Gamecocks head football coach Steve Spurrier will be retiring, though the initial reports didn’t indicate whether or not the retirement would go to the effect immediately or if Spurrier would be coaching out the rest of the 2015 season.
After coaching the Gamecocks to three consecutive 11-2 seasons from 2011-13, Spurrier and South Carolina have fallen on hard times in recent years. The Gamecocks finished the 2014 season with only a 7-6 overall record and a meager 3-5 record in the SEC. His start to the 2015 season has only made his recent rack record worse as the Gamecocks are 2-4 overall and just 0-4 in the conference to start the year.
There was widespread speculation about the possibility of Spurrier retiring after this season coming into the year, but he denied those reports publicly. Now, after the brutal start to the season, one of the most successful and recognizable college coaches of all time is hanging up the whistle.
Reacting accordingly, the fine users of Twitter took to social media to make jokes, cry a bit, and general go crazy over the news of Spurrier’s retirement:
It's going to be really confusing on Twitter if Steve Spurrier retires and both USC jobs are open.

I would say I hope Spurrier goes to TV, but I feel like he probably just wants to golf and drink Coors.
