I don’t think I had a very good week. I might be back in the red after this one. Judging by my pick em picks, it might be a little rough!

Here are the college football results against the spread week 6. Winner against the spread are in BOLD.

SMU at Houston(-25.5): MISS! Houston kind of let off the gas here. My streak of missing the first pick of the week continues!

Washington at USC(-16.5): MISS! And this is before the storm happened in L.A. It is not a good year to play in Los Angeles considering UCLA can’t win at home either.

Southern Mississippi at Marshall(-4.5): MISS! This wasn’t even close.

North Carolina State at Virginia Tech(-1.5): MISS! Great start there, Mike.

Duke(-12.5) at Army: MISS! This is the Duke team that everyone has expected to see this year. They just showed up a month late.

New Mexico State at Mississippi(-44.5): MISS! I knew better.

UTEP at Florida International(-12.5): HIT! Finally! Too bad I only had one point on it….

Middle Tennessee State at Western Kentucky(-8.5): HIT! The Hilltoppers offense in finally in high gear.

Illinois at Iowa(-10.5): MISS! Iowa outplayed the Illini by quite a lot in the second half, but kept settling for field goals.

Baylor(-44.5) at Kansas: HIT! The Bears look unstoppable right now. They have an elite offense and a great offensive line. Can the defense hold up?

Oklahoma(-17.5) vs. Texas at Dallas: MISS! I knew better. I knew somewhere that this was going to be close. But under no circumstances did I think that Texas would dominate the game. Oklahoma gave up the most yards after initial contact than they have in the last ten years. And they were severely outplayed. One team wanted it. It wasn’t the Sooners.

Maryland at Ohio State(-33.5): HIT! When will the lethargic play finally bite the Buckeyes?

Indiana at Penn State(-6.5): MISS! This was Penn State’s best game of the year by a longshot.

Tulane at Temple(-15.5): HIT! The Owls are looking like a favorite in the AAC, but aren’t getting as much love as the Boise State’s and Toledo’s of the world. Will that change?

Central Michigan at Western Michigan(-6.5): MISS! Damn the Broncos for giving up 20 fourth quarter points!

Virginia at Pittsburgh(-9.5): MISS! The Cavalier defense shut down Pitt in the second half. Unfortunately the Panther D couldn’t return the favor.

Miami(OH) at Ohio(-16.5): HIT! Ohio might be good enough to surprise some people after a horrendous year last year.

Massachusetts at Bowling Green(-13.5): HIT! The Falcons did manage to pull away late.

Rice at Florida Atlantic(-3.5): HIT! I honestly thought Rice would open it up a little more, but a win is a win.

Wake Forest at Boston College(-7.5): HIT! I knew it would be low scoring, but 3-0 is a bit ridiculous!

Akron(-7.5) at Eastern Michigan: HIT! The Zips “only” ran for 278 yards in this one! Hey, its an improvement for the Eagles.

Kent State at Toledo(-14.5): HIT! The first easy money of the day!

Appalachian State(-16.5) at Georgia State: HIT! The Mountaineers are looking like the class of the Sun Belt right now!

Ball State at Northern Illinois(-10.5): HIT! The Huskies were shut out in the first quarter, and still racked up 59 points.

Georgia Tech at Clemson(-7.5): HIT! The spiral continues for the Yellow Jackets.

South Carolina at LSU(-19.5): HIT! It was just a tough week for South Carolina all around. The last thing on their minds was LSU, but the hospitality of Tigers fans was great!

Georgia(-2.5) at Tennessee: MISS! Wow, Tennessee managed not to choke one away!

Syracuse at South Florida(-2.5): MISS! The Bulls meant business here.

Navy at Notre Dame(-14.5): MISS! Navy turned it over way too many times to stay in this one.

Northwestern at Michigan(-7.5): MISS! This was a huge statement by Michigan. They are playing better than any team in the Big Ten(14) right now. ANY team.

Wisconsin at Nebraska(-1.5): HIT! Nebraska continues to find creative ways to lose. In this one, they only needed a first down to win. So they run three times up the middle against a strong run defense. That is the kind of coaching that loses games, and it did here. The fans are calling for Riley’s head already, and the staff is coaching scared. This experiment is not going well in Lincoln.

Minnesota(-3.5) at Purdue: HIT! This is the Gopher team that fans are expecting to see. They finally have the run game going, and are as strong as they were last year.

Iowa State at Texas Tech(-10.5): HIT! The Cyclones were the trendy pick not to get covered, but I knew they had no chance of covering all these receivers. Patrick Mahomes might be the best pro prospect the Red Raiders have ever had at QB, which is saying a lot!

Connecticut at Central Florida(-2.5): HIT! Nothing like losing by 27 when favored at home! The free beer keeps flowing in Orlando!

Oregon State at Arizona(-10.5): MISS! Arizona’s defense finally showed up during the same game as their offense!

Troy at Mississippi State(-30.5): MISS! The Bulldogs didn’t have a problem, but they allowed all 17 Troy points in the second half while only scoring seven for themselves. Big spreads lose when teams let off the gas.

Washington State at Oregon(-17.5): HIT! I knew this was too big, but I never thought that Washington State would beat the Ducks. Things are dire in Eugene, and a season which had a disastrous start for Washington State just may end up in a bowl!

Louisiana-Monroe at Tulsa(-9.5): HIT! That was a little too close for my liking!

Boise State(-15.5) at Colorado State: HIT! Boise is back on track after a disheartening loss to BYU. Will their schedule be tough enough to land them in a New Year’s Six bowl?

Texas State at Louisiana-Lafayette(-3.5): MISS! My trusty quarter is off to a disappointing 1-2 start this year.

New Mexico at Nevada(-2.5): MISS! I knew better in this one too.

Louisiana Tech(-11.5) at UTSA: MISS! The Roadrunner defense really stepped up in the second half.

Arkansas at Alabama(-16.5): MISS! Arkansas looked more like the team we expected them to be, but they just couldn’t pull it off.

Oklahoma State at West Virginia(-6.5): MISS! The middle of the Big 12(10) is tough to pick this year.

TCU(-9.5) at Kansas State: MISS! The Toadies are really lucky to win this game. If they hadn’t got the interception return for a touchdown with Kansas State driving again up 14, they lose this game.

Florida(-4.5) at Missouri: HIT! This was one of the easiest picks of the year.

East Carolina at BYU(-8.5): HIT! I was right. BYU won but didn’t cover.

Miami(FL) at Florida State(-8.5): MISS! Did this cool down Al Golden’s hot seat? Doubtful. Near misses don’t count in year three.

Michigan State(-13.5) at Rutgers: MISS! Not only did MSU not get close to covering, Rutgers gifted them the game. The Scarlet Knight could very easily have won this.

San Jose State(-3.5) at UNLV: MISS! I knew better. I let UNLV taking down Nevada cloud my judgment.

Colorado at Arizona State(-15.5): HIT! Colorado didn’t show their improvement here.

California at Utah(-7.5): MISS! Cal turned it over six times and only lost by six. That in itself should count as a win.

Wyoming at Air Force(-24.5): MISS! Not only did Air Force not cover, they weren’t in control of this game until the fourth quarter. It took a goal line fumble by Brian Hill that Air Force recovered to really put it away.

Utah State(-11.5) at Fresno State: MISS! This was quite a show by the Aggie offense…..and defense.

San Diego State at Hawaii(-1.5): HIT! Pumphrey was the only reason the Aztecs won.

The final tally is 26-29 on the week, which brings my season total to 153-153. After six weeks I am right back where I started. For the points system, it didn’t go as well. Here is that breakdown. The season totals are in parenthesis.

1: 3-3 (18-19)

2: 8-4 (50-38)

3: 10-13 (50-57)

4: 4-6 (26-29)

5: 1-3 (10-11)

I lost 19 points on the week, which takes me to -15 on the season. So much for the implementation of a points system helping me! The only place where I am really succeeding is the two pointers. I need to start making some twos into fives I guess.

The road teams were in the black once again with a 29-25 week (there was one game at a neutral site). The road teams have had a winning record against the spread in every week except week 2!

Stay tuned for some more FanDuel picks and this week’s picks against the spread!
