Tragic news broke last night when Lamar Odom was reportedly in hospital in a coma, and Kobe Bryant was one of the first to visit him.
When reports surfaced last night that Lamar Odom had been found unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Nevada and was rushed to hospital, the news immediately saddened all those who like Odom; both players and fans alike. One of his former teammates, Kobe Bryant, was one of the first to join him in hospital.
They spent seven years playing together with the Los Angeles Lakers while winning back-to-back championships from 2009-2010. TMZ reported that Kobe left the Lakers preseason game against the Sacramento Kings early to see him in hospital:
"Kobe Bryant left a Lakers pre-season game in Las Vegas early … and rushed to the bedside of his former teammate Lamar Odom Tuesday night — where he prayed with members of the Kardashian family."
Khloe and Kim Kardashian had also arrived at the Las Vegas hospital to see Odom as soon as possible, and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak also joined them soon after Kobe.
When Odom was found unconscious in a worrying state, a manager at Hof’s brothel said that there was “mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose and mouth” (according to an earlier report by TMZ). Since that point, Odom was driven 60 miles to hospital due to being too tall at 6-foot-10 to be airlifted and passed into a coma.
At this stage, we don’t know when, or if, Odom will improve. He’s now in a coma and his heart is failing, plus he’s reportedly having serious problems with both his kidneys and lungs (per TMZ).
He’s been a beloved player for years, and has struggled with countless personal issues since his mother died due to cancer when he was just 12 years old. After dealing with drug addiction and the pain of a divorce after his marriage with Khloe Kardashian ended after only four years, Odom has had a great deal of issues to go through.
Sadly, there have been no reported improvements yet. But we’ll all continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers as we hope for that to change soon.
