One Toronto man was willing to go to jail so he could watch the Blue Jays playoff game

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers will face off in Game 5 of their ALDS series on Wednesday afternoon. This is obviously a huge moment for both franchises, but particularly for Toronto who has become the darling of their city and for most of Canada.

Fans in Toronto have fallen so in love with this team and their postseason run that at least one fan is willing to go to great lengths to watch Wednesday’s Game 5. According to the Toronto Police Operation Centre’s Twitter, a man called authorities on Wednesday morning asking to be taken to jail so that he would be able to watch the Blue Jays game:

That is probably one of the most amazing things to happen in sports. You know you’re a fan when you are willing to be locked up behind bars just to have the opportunity to watch your team play in a winner-take-all playoff game.

Unfortunately, the Twitter account responded later to say that the police did indeed go to try and pick up the man, but he was no longer at the scene. Let’s hope that he found a better place other than jail to watch the game on Wednesday afternoon.
