The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to stick it to Wells Fargo in the pettiest of ways

The Philadelphia 76ers are not a good basketball team and will almost surely consider their recent trend of not winning many games as they head into the 2015-16 NBA season. However, they’re at least going to try and get a victory in their increasingly petty dispute with Wells Fargo.

The Sixers play their home games in the Wells Fargo center as the banking giants hold the naming rights to the arena. Despite the fact that the 76ers occupy the building in the winter months, Wells Fargo does not sponsor the team in any way. As you’d expect, this is something that doesn’t sit well with ownership and the Philadelphia front office.

As a result, the Sixers are taking things to the pettiest levels possible. Last season, the “Wells Fargo Center” name was embossed in large, black font on the hardwood when the Sixers were at home. As of Wednesday night’s preseason action, this is what the name of the arena looks like on the court:

Unless you’re on one of the team’s playing in the arena, sitting courtside, or are taking a half-court shot to win a car at halftime, there is no way you’re going to be able to read that inside the building.

Way to go Sixers; you managed to take what is almost assuredly going to be a losing season and now added being incredibly petty to your list of accomplishments for the year. Trust the process, or something.
