The Houston Texans currently have a carousel going at quarterback. We’re five weeks into the season and we’ve seen Brian Hoyer start and get benched for Ryan Mallett and we’ve seen Hoyer play again. Needless to say it appears the Texans are less than satisfied with their quarterback situation and headed towards a top pick once again and this is when they address it.
Unfortunately for the Texans, this isn’t exactly a great class of quarterbacks, but there is one that Bill O’Brien could like, Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg.

Hackenberg is being graded out as a first-round pick, which seems like a reach already. Him going this high would be an incredible reach on the Texans part and Hackenberg probably isn’t worth the No. 2 pick, he definitely isn’t the No. 2 prospect in the draft and probably not at his own position.

But O’Brien is familiar with Hackenberg from his Penn State days and could feel perhaps more comfortable with handing the reins to the offense over to a familiar face. It seems like a huge gamble and one that won’t likely pay off and could ultimately seal O’Brien’s fate.

Or it could work out and while Hackenberg might not ever be Tom Brady, he might be Andy Dalton enough to make this pick work out.
. QB. Penn State. Christian Hackenberg. 2. player. 10
