There are three games on Thursday andĀ four more on Friday this week. FanDuel split them up, so we get a tournament each day instead of combining them! If you want a Thursday-Friday combined game, they have them over at DraftKings, and in smaller leagues on FanDuel. I will make my picks for the big tournaments only.

More from College Football Odds

My lineup did very well on the Thursday-Friday slate last week, placing 11th in the big tournament. However, I was unable to capture the magic on Saturday. I should have paid for more Baylor players!

To finish in the money, you need to choose the best high priced players, and the best cheap options to let you afford some high priced players. I will give you some of each option at each position and let you choose from there.

Here are my FanDuel college football picks for October 16:

Next: Who Will Put Up Big Numbers At QB?

Oct 3, 2015; Tulsa, OK, USA; Houston Cougars quarterback Greg Ward Jr. (1) reacts after a touchdown run against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane during the first half at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Rob Ferguson-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterback:

Best Bet:

Greg Ward, Houston ($10,300): Tulane’s defense has left a lot to be desired, especially against the pass. The Green Wave are 97th in the country against the pass. Ward has managed to run for 554 yards in six games, scoring 11 rushing touchdowns. That doesn’t even account for his 1,301 passing yards and eight touchdowns through the air. Ward is a great runner and a scoring machine, two things that make him a valuable asset in fantasy. Ward has only been held under 40 fantasy points once. That was when Louisville held him to 30.2 in week 2. He is essentially bust-proof.

Honorable Mention:

Tanner Mangum, BYU ($8,100):Ā Cincinnati is allowing 230 passing yards per game, which is 74th in the nation. Mangum has proven to be an above average passer who throws a good deep ball. He is going against a slightly below average pass defense. He is a solid bet if you would rather spend at the other skill positions than spendĀ nearly Ā aĀ quarter of your salary on Ward.

Dark Horse:

Kilton Anderson, Fresno State ($7,000):Ā Zack Greenlee has been benched in favor of Anderson. Anderson was only 10 for 20 in his first start, but there is reason for optimism against UNLV’s 90th ranked pass defense. If you want to roll the dice, Anderson is like playing with weighted dice.

My pick: Ward

Next: There Are Good Ways To Go Cheap At RB

Sep 3, 2015; Fresno, CA, USA; Fresno State Bulldogs running back Marteze Waller (33) runs for a first down against the Abilene Christian Wildcats in the first quarter at Bulldog Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Running Back:

Best Bets:

Kenneth Farrow, Houston ($7,300):Ā Tulane has a decent run defense (69th in the nation), but Farrow has scored five touchdowns in the last two games. Houston will find a way to get him touches in favorable situations. Plus, with Ward softening up the defense as well, Farrow has the potential to break some big plays. This is a night without elite talent at RB. You can do worse.

Algernon Brown, BYU ($7,000): The loss of Adam Hine might have been a blessing in disguise for the Cougars. Brown has run for 229 yards and scored four times in his two starts. Cincinnati’s run defense isn’t as good as it has been a previous years. BYU has seemed committed to running the ball with Brown. He is a good bet to hit the century mark again and find the end zone at least once.

Honorable Mention:

Marteze Waller, Fresno State ($5,900):Ā Waller has faced some really tough competition and has very little help around him, yet he has still managed to rack up 11.4 fantasy points per game. Expect Waller to come up with his best game of the season against UNLV’s 83rd ranked run defense.

Tion Green, Cincinnati ($6,800): Green is still part of a committee backfield, and it seems as though Mike Boone is ready to go, but BYU’s run defense is surprisingly average. Green seems to get about half the carries inĀ a three headed backfield. Prediction which back will go off is tough to do, but Green will have the most chances.

Dark Horse:

Keith Whitely, UNLV ($4,100): Fresno State boasts the 117th ranked rush defense in the country. Despite the relative ineffectiveness of the UNLV offense, Whitely has still put up decent numbers so far. Expect a lot more than decent against the Bulldogs. He could be the best bargain in FanDuel Friday night.

My picks: Waller and Whitely

Next: It's Worth Spending At WR

Sep 26, 2015; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Cougars wide receiver Demarcus Ayers (10) makes a reception during the first quarter against the Texas State Bobcats at TDECU Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Wide Receiver:

Best Bets:

Demarcus Ayers, Houston ($7,300):Ā Ayers is the best receiver in a high-powered offense going against a poor Tulane pass defense. He could put up the best numbers of any receiver just because he is the best option for Houston, though Greg Ward does temper his value a little.

Shaq Washington, Cincinnati ($5,900):Ā Washington has emerged as the top receiver in a crowded Cincinnati receiving corps. He flourished with Hayden Moore under center. If Gunner Kiel is back as the starter, he could see a bit of a drop off. Still, BYU’s pass defense has enough holes that his third straight 100 yard receiving is within reach.

Honorable Mention:

Mitch Mathews, BYU ($5,500):Ā Mathews has been the go-to guy for Tanner Mangum since catching the Hail Mary to beat Nebraska in the season opener. Cincinnati’s pass defense has left quite a bit to be desired, so look for Mathews to be a focal point again. Algernon Brown will get some work, but with the Bearcats run defense being much better than pass defense, the BYU receivers should be plenty busy.

Teddy Veal, Tulane ($5,700): Veal is not leading the Green Wave in receiving yards – that would be Devon Breaux – but it is Veal that has found the end zone in each of the last three games. He has been the top red zone target, so his fantasy value is a little bit higher right now. Tulane is going to have to throw to stay in the game, so Veal or Breaux could be sneaky plays.

Dark Horse:

Devonte Boyd, UNLV ($5,000):Ā Despite the inconsistency of Kurt Palandech, Boyd has flourished with him tossing the ball around. Boyd has three touchdowns in his last four games, and has become the leading receiver on the team. Fresno’s 90th ranked pass defense awaits. Look for Boyd to have a productive night on Friday.

My picks: Ayers, Washington, and Mathews

Next: It's A Light Night At TE

Oct 10, 2015; Provo, UT, USA; Brigham Young Cougars wide receiver Terenn Houk (11) reaches in for the score in first half action against East Carolina Pirates at Lavell Edwards Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

Tight End:

Best Bet:

Terenn Houk, BYU ($3,000): Houk has caught at least four passes in every game except for the Michigan game. He has 172 receiving yards over his last two games, and is a prominent part in this offense. Look for that to continue against an average Cincinnati defense.

Honorable Mention:

Holden Huff, Boise State ($2,700): Boise is going up against a tough Utah State defense, so Huff may be more of a target than usual for Brett Rypien. He should at least come close to the production of Houk if you need the $300 elsewhere.

Dark Horse:

Wyatt Houston, Utah State ($2,400): Houston is a prospective play for the same reason Huff is. Boise State has the 12th ranked defense in the nation. Utah State will find the going slow, so look for Houston to try and get open underneath.

My pick: Houk
