Floyd Mayweather may be acting as if his boxing career is finished, but Gennady Golovkin doesn’t seem to think that’s the case

After his September victory over Andre Berto, we’re supposed to believe that Floyd Mayweather is done for good in his career at 49-0. He’s done his best to make it pretty evident that there will be no more fighting in his future, but there are some that just don’t believe that. Among the people that are calling his bluff on this are current fighters that would love for nothing than to get the chance to get into the ring with him. You know, such as an undefeated up-and-comer such as Gennady Golovkin.

This Saturday night Golovkin will look to keep his undefeated record intact when he takes on David Lemieux, but the fact of the matter is that everyone wants to see Golovkin and his punching power get into that ring with Floyd. Apparently, the man affectionately known as “GGG” believes the door might be open for this to happen soon.

Prior to a press conference on Wednesday, GGG let it be known that he thinks Floyd will indeed get back into the ring again, mainly because he wants that money.

“Floyd, he’s not finished,” Golovkin said via BoxingScene.com. “He’s not finished. He’s a good businessman. He’s a very smart guy. He has [a] plan [for his] future.”

If we’re all lucky, that plan will involve these two meeting one another with undefeated records. Sure, a lot has to happen here, especially the two meeting in the middle as it pertains to weight class. Golovkin would have to drop while Mayweather would have to bulk up a bit, but it’s certainly not anything that can’t be done.

Again, if we’re lucky, all the stars will align and this fight will take place. Hopefully, GGG knows what he’s talking about.
