Welcome back to Last night in the WNBA Playoffs, a running post you’ll see throughout the next month or so as we march towards the crowning of a new WNBA champion.

Minnesota Lynx 69 – Indiana Fever 52 (Lynx win 3-2)

After four hard fought games. After Maya Moore hit one of the most iconic shots in league history. After Tamika Catchings and Briann January and company fought off elimination for a fifth time in the postseason. After all of that, it came down to last night.

Game 5. One game, inside the Target Center in Minneapolis, to crown the 2015 WNBA Champion. And hoo boy, was it a stinker. Sometimes that just happens. Not everything can be a storybook ending. Every game can’t end like Game 3.

It was a shame, because you want to see both teams go out with their best punches, but that’s not what we got last night. Instead we got an ugly, scrappy game. The Fever shot 35.7 percent, the Lynx shot 41.9 percent. The Fever had 19 turnovers, the Lynx had 12. In fact, the Fever only scored 4 points in the second quarter and 8 in the third as the Lynx pulled away.

But alas, it was still a great series, and a fantastic postseason. And left standing when the final buzzer came? The Minnesota Lynx. With Maya Moore and Finals MVP Sylvia Fowles leading the way, the Lynx are your 2015 WNBA Champions.

Honestly there isn’t much remembering from the game. Maya hit a nice triple here.

Renee Montgomery had a nice steal and layup to end the third quarter.

And, well, that’s about it. Let’s get to the celebration.
