Top 10 current NFL rivalries
7. New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts
Ironically, these two teams never created much of a rivalry when they were in the AFC East together throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Both of the teams were usually awful throughout those 30 years, with there never being a period when both were competitive at the same time except for a few seasons in the 70s. Then, the Colts were moved to the AFC South in the 2002 season, and things took off.
With Peyton Manning and Tom Brady at the peaks of their powers, the two teams always found themselves fighting for home-field advantage in the playoffs. The franchises would square off in the 2003, 2004 and 2006 postseasons, with the Patriots winning the first two games and the Colts taking the third. Each time, the winner went onto win the Super Bowl. Now, the Patriots and Colts share DeflateGate. Factor that into a battle between Brady and Andrew Luck, and it’s still must-see television.
