Michigan fans were fired up and brought serious heat with their College GameDay signs.
Whoa Nellie! Buckle up for this one, because it’s going to be a rowdy day up in Ann Arbor.
Affectionately known as The Big House, Michigan Stadium and the surrounding area on campus was more like The Mad House on Saturday morning. Between College GameDay swinging through town (with beloved Desmond Howard and hated Herbie in tow), Steve Spurrier showing up, and the suddenly reignited Sparty-Wolverines battle things were rocking and rolling.
When Jim Harbaugh came home to roost in Ann Arbor many people figured it would take a year, maybe two, for him to right the ship and get Michigan back on the road to national dominance. As it turns out, it’s only taken six games.
After losing an ugly (and that’s being kind) slopfest to Utah, Michigan has played arguably the most dominant football in the country. Since that opening stinker, Michigan has pitched three consecutive shutouts and not allowed more than seven points in any game. If not for a late UNLV touchdown in the game’s final minutes, Michigan would be on a 19-quarter shutout streak.
As for the Spartans, they’re undefeated but have played with fire. Oregon, Purdue and Rutgers all had legitimate chances to knock off Michigan State, but couldn’t quite close the door.
With so much energy in the air, you just had to figure the sign game for College GameDay would be on point. Here are the best of the best from Ann Arbor.
