Arizona Cardinals vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Arizona Cardinals travel east to continue their exemplary season against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field. One o’clock East Coast games are rarely a positive omen for squads from the Left Coast, but this year’s Cards squad has proved itself mostly unflappable.
Outside of a hiccup against the St. Louis Rams (a 24-22 defeat in Week 5), Arizona has been rocking and rolling. Carson Palmer has dialed back the clock, as too has Larry Fitzgerald, and the Patrick Peterson-led defense has been murking opponents left and right. Arizona bounced back last week by trouncing a hapless Detroit Lions team, 42-17.
Mind-blowing loss to the Ravens aside, this might sneakily be one of the best coaching jobs Mike Tomlin has put together during his tenure in Pittsburgh. With Ben Roethlisberger out, the Steelers were expected to fall apart. And yes, while their prolific offense has slowed under Mike Vick, the defense has stepped up. What was supposed to be the team’s Achilles’ Heel has been it’s brightest spot. Pittsburgh is living off a bend-but-don’t-break philosophy, and actually ranks No. 7 in points allowed per game (19.0).
