The Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs played an ugly game at TCF Bank Stadium, and the home team was able to come away with a 16-10 victory. Kansas City was not able to move the ball at all for the majority of the first half, gaining fewer yards than they racked up in penalties.

Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson was never able to get anything going. The future Hall of Fame running back only gained 60 rushing yards on 26 carries, but it was enough against a pathetic Chiefs offense. It was a brutal game to watch for the most part, with both teams struggling to execute.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Stefon Diggs

Diggs was playing in place of the injured Charles Johnson and did a terrific job, leading all receivers with seven catches and 129 yards. Diggs was a force throughout, showcasing his speed, good hands and route-running. Diggs should continue to start evenw when Johnson returns.

2. Alex Smith

Smith really was nothing to write home about, but somebody needs to earn a star. Smith was pretty good in the second half after doing absolutely nothing early on, ending the game with 282 yards on 22-of-37 pass attempts. Smith also threw for a touchdown, his fifth of the season.

3. Fans

The fans who actually watched this game deserve a star. Both teams failed to create any excitement, with the offesnses seeing which one could be more inept. Peterson did nothing, and Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was mostly non-existent after the first quarter. Kansas City barely had a pulse throughout the contest, taking multiple penalties and showing nothing but failure.

Odds

Minnesota was favored by 3.5 points and was able to cover the spread.

Next Week

The Vikings are going to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions next Sunday, while the Chiefs return home to torture their fans against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
