After an insane Week 7 that saw plenty of great college football, the Week 8 AP Poll has been released.
My goodness, Week 7 was exciting wasn’t it? Right from the jump there were upsets galore and tangible suspense.
In the early slate Ole Miss fell flat against a strong, surprising Memphis squad. It only took Hugh Freeze three quarters to realize he could throw on the Tigers defense. By that time, it was too late. It also didn’t help that Robert Nkemdiche left the game with a concussion.
In the middle games, Alabama rolled over an overmatched Texas A&M squad. Remember all that talk about Nick Saban’s inability to stop spread offenses? After pounding TAMU by a combined score of 100-23 over the past two years, those conversations feel like ancient history.
And then there’s Michigan-Michigan State. What can you say that hasn’t been said about that one? Just a soul-stealing defeat for the Wolverines, and a providential victory for the Spartans.
Les Miles went all Mad Hatter to defeat the Florida Gators in a Death Valley donnybrook. Ohio State gritted out another win, while Baylor and TCU continue marching headlong into the most vicious battle the state of Texas has seen since 1836.
Here’s a look at the Week 8 version of the AP Poll. You’ll note that Texas A&M and Michigan are both ranked at No. 15; both teams have the same amount of votes with 614 and therefore are tied. Texas A&M is likely listed higher in the graphic due to their better ranking a week ago.
