Mike Adams took a Tom Brady-Julian Edelman miscue and turned it into six points for the Colts
Julian Edelman scored the New England Patriots first touchdown of the evening on Sunday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts, but did so at the cost of having a good pinky finger. He seemed to either break or dislocate his pinky finger on the play and that helped Colts defensive back Mike Adams give his team six points.
The Patriots were deep in their own territory and trying to get another drive going to extend their lead. Tom Brady looked for one of his most reliable targets in Edelman, but the trusty receiver couldn’t haul the catch in with his bum finger and tipped the ball in the air. Adams was there waiting and snatched it from the air before taking off for the end zone:

That was a huge play for both teams in different regards. For the Colts, the pick-six gave them an early and surprising lead over the Patriots in the second quarter. For New England, it could signify that one of their biggest weapons on their offense isn’t going to be as effective as normal.
The Colts immediately tried to capitalize on that big defensive play with an onside kick, but New England recovered and then went onto score. That’s one way to not make the most of a game-changing play.
