The Denver Broncos needed overtime to get past the Cleveland Browns and remain undefeated.

23. 53. 26. 45. Final

The Denver Broncos are once again chasing a Super Bowl with aging quarterback Peyton Manning before his arm literally falls off. Facing the lowly Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday, the Broncos had to expect a win even though they were playing on the road.

Instead the Browns faced a tough Browns team that forced them into overtime, and nearly beat them. In overtime, the Broncos got possession first but a third Manning interception nearly cost them the game.

Fortunately for the Broncos, their defense held the Browns to a three-and-out, even driving them back 18 yards, and forced a punt. The Broncos got the game-winning field goal in over time on the next play.

Manning’s depreciating arm threw three interceptions, including a pick-six to Karlos Dansby. He was able to make some big throws to keep them in the game, however.

The Broncos lost linebacker Shane Ray to a knee injury, another blow to their defensive unit, who were without DeMarcus Ware.

Three stars

  1. Karlos Dansby, LB, Browns – Dansby picked Peyton Manning off not once, but twice. The second of which he returned for a touchdown.
  2. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Broncos – Despite nearly making an error that would’ve lived on forever in blooper reels, Sanders caught four passes for 109 yards, including a 75=yard touchdown reception.
  3. Travis Benjamin, WR, Browns – Benjamin caught nine passes for 117 yards. No touchdowns, but this guy is proving he can be a star.

Highlights

Browns tight end Gary Barnidge continues to score touchdowns.

Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin had a huge 47-yard reception.

Browns linebacker Karlos Dansby intercepted Manning for the second time and returned it for a touchdown.

Peyton Manning found wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders for a 75-yard touchdown, a solid way to bounce back from an interception.

It looked like Browns line backer Barkevious Mingo almost stole the win from the Broncos with an interception in over time.

Next Week

The Denver Broncos are limping into the bye week, which they desperately need. Linebacker DeMarcus Ware could be returning from injury the following week and needs the rest, especially after Shane Ray went down. When they return, they host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

The Browns play the St. Louis Rams on the road next week, another rough game against a tough team and a tough defense.
