NFL: 8 players who would benefit from a change in scenery
Many players throughout the NFL are stuck in situations that are less than ideal for their career. We look at a few could use a new team.
After the Chicago Bears’ Week Three debacle against the Seattle Seahawks, the team quickly started to transition into rebuilding mode. They traded DE Jared Allen to the Carolina Panthers and LB Jon Bostic to the New England Patriots, both for highly coveted sixth round picks. It soon appeared that everyone was available, even the team’s most visible stars.
From Ian Rapoport at NFL.com:
"[The Bears’ trades were] proof that general manager Ryan Pace will consider all options when it comes to improving his team for the longterm. And yes, that does include making veteran running back Matt Forte available for the right offer."
Since then, the Bears have won two straight. But he still remains a candidate to be traded; as the meaty part of his career winds down he may be better served joining a competitive team in need of running back help.
Forte is an obvious example, but he isn’t the only one. We take a look at eight other examples of players who would benefit from a change in scenery, as well as a possible but not probable destination that would fit. Sometimes it’s because these players aren’t used properly, or aren’t used enough, or even because it would be fun to see them on a new team.
We begin in Miami.
