Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks

It’s really hard to believe this matchup between an unbeaten team and sub .500 squad in week six happens to be this flip-flopped. You would think that the Carolina Panthers would be the team with the losing record between them and the Seattle Seahawks, but that’s not the case.

Carolina is 4-0 on the year despite not being an overwhelmingly dominant team. The Panthers have made enough plays to give them a chance to win in each game, and they just keep finding a way to come out on top.

The Seahawks have had their fair share of lucky bounces, but Russell Wilson is stuck behind an offensive line that just can’t stay healthy long enough to complete a block, it seems. He’s hoping to get his usually competitive Seahawks back on track with a big win against the Panthers.

Keys to Victory

Seattle Seahawks

For Seattle, Russell Wilson needs to start getting his yards on the ground since they seem to be very difficult to come by through the air. Although the Panthers have the 16th-best pass defense in the league, Wilson will need to really find his success by tucking and running with it as his offensive line hasn’t done him much good. Marshawn Lynch will need to get back on track in this one as well.

Obviously, Seattle’s defense is one of the best in the league, but slowing down Cam Newton is never the easiest task. As long as the Seahawks limit the big run plays by the quarterback and don’t all commit to the run and let him pass right over their heads, the Seahawks will be fine.

Carolina Panthers

Jonathan Stewart is not having the best start to the season, racking up just 220 yards on 59 carries and failing to reach the end zone. It will be up to Cam to control the offense, but that might be too much pressure. The receiving corps have not been great all year as his top target was injured before the season began.

Newton will need to find Greg Olsen early and often, connecting with him enough times to give the Panthers solid field position and maybe even cap off those drives with touchdowns and not just field goals. This will be a low scoring game, so Newton will need to do just enough through the air to give his team the best chance to win.

Prediction

The Panthers’ offense is just not having the best season so far, ranking 25th in the NFL in total yards per game. Seattle’s defense is one of the best in the entire league. That clash is not going to end well for Carolina, especially on the road in Seattle. I think the Seahawks will keep the Panthers’ offense in check throughout and Marshawn Lynch has a nice comeback game.

Final Score: Panthers 17, Seahawks 24
