Alex Rodriguez showed why he is a baseball player and not a football player after joining the FOX NFL Sunday set.
New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez, popularly known as “A-Rod,” joined the FOX NFL Sunday television crew in a guest appearance. He was promototing his future role as an MLB analyst for FOX, which he will be doing for the rest of the 2015 playoffs. The NFL team had Rodriguez throw a football pass to insider Jay Glazer in front of a bunch of TVs. This did not end well as Rodriguez overthrew Glazer and broke one of the TV screens.
Rodriguez has not played third base for the Yankees for a while. He served mostly as a designed hitter during the 2015 season, which may have caused his throw to look rusty. Analyst Terry Bradshaw had the strongest reaction to Rodriguez’s throw, which is not surprising since he played as a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Interestingly enough, the Yankees star was recruited to play quarterback in college as he received an offer from the University of Miami. This may have been a reason why the FOX NFL Sunday team thought it would be a good idea for a baseball player to act as a quarterback in front of fragile TV screens.
However, Glazer did not make much of an effort to catch the ball since he barely jumped in the air. Rodriguez’s throw was too high, so it may have gone past Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira as well. Glazer never played baseball though, so he cannot be expected to make a first base play.
