The Walking Dead got real tonight with an episode that set this sixth season on course and managed to tear us up in more than a few ways.
After a season premiere episode that polarized fans with it’s black and white flashbacks, things returned to a more normal level of insanity on The Walking Dead.
It wasn’t that last week’s episode was bad, it just tried to hard to be an artsy episode of The Walking Dead. This week’s episode just wiped it out and laid it on the table for the world to see — and it was violent in every way possible. The Wolves attacked Alexandria and slaughtered almost everyone in the safe zone, but not before we saw a bad ass character return from right under our noses.
Before we look ahead to next week’s episode of The Walking Dead, let’s look back at all the violent craziness from this week’s new episode:
What You Missed…
1. That horn sound from the ending of last week’s episode was caused by a semi that crashed into the wall around Alexandria.
2. The reason the semi truck crashed was because of an attack by The Wolves on the safe zone. Basically it was a bunch of crazy people ambushing the quiet town and killing almost everyone.
3. They didn’t kill Carol though who returned to her badass state. She disguised herself as a member of The Wolves and ran around killing everyone who was attacking the camp.
4. Speaking of badasses, Carl (or Cawwwrl) managed to protect baby Judith during the assault on Alexandria. He even killed a guy, which is significant in that Carl did something constructive.
5. Joking aside, Ron witnessed Carl killing a member of The Wolves and refused to take him up on his offer for refuge. He sort of mellowed out once he saw his own mother stabbing the sh-t out of one of The Wolves, as his arc continues to be weird.
6. You can’t mention weird without mentioning the weird dichotomy between Carol and Morgan. One of them has no problem killing at will while the other struggles with the idea of deadly force. Morgan doesn’t think Carol should be a ruthless killer, but that was tested in the end.
7. Morgan ended up being forced into a situation where Morgan needed to kill to survive though, something he wasn’t proud of but ultimately did.
8. Enid got some backstory — and survived! Something that didn’t survive was the tortoise that she ate at the beginning of the episode as she tried to survive in the wild.
9. She stayed with Carl as long as she could but ultimately bolted after the assault was over. Carl found a note from her, but it’s probably not the last time we are going to see her.
10. Aside from the show, Kevin Smith immediately lightened the mood from this intense episode by making oral sex jokes that were actually spot on in reference to how we felt about the episode.
Next Week on The Walking Dead…
Things will pick right up where we left them next week when we learn more about The Wolves and why they attacked Alexandria. Plus, the dichotomy of Morgan and Carol will be further dissected as well as how it all relates back to Rick’s leadership role in the group.
