Washington Redskins vs New York Jets
The Washington Redskins travel up a familiar venue in MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face a team from New York. However, it’s not the divisional Giants that the Redskins will see, but rather the AFC East Jets.
Both teams are an interesting study, and very similar to one another. They each battled controversy in the offseason, specifically at the quarterback position – Robert Griffin III was benched in favor of Kirk Cousins; Geno Smith’s jaw was broken by a then-teammate. And yet, despite all the back-page scandal, both squads have come out fairly okay.
The Redskins were thought to be a serious contender for 0-16, yet already have two wins and have been plucky in their losses. Given the jumbled nature of their division, the Redskins are still in a chase for the playoffs.
As for the Jets, well they’re 3-1 and the second-best team in their division. Entering the year, Miami was expected to be the heir-apparent in the AFC East, but after a full-blown collapse, they’re on skid row. By whom where they put there? Why the Jets, by way of a curb stomping in jolly old England. Ryan Fitzpatrick has performed well, and Chris Ivory is a punishing back who can control contests in possession games.
