Whomever handles the Chicago Cubs Twitter account deserves a medal for this excellent troll job on a greedy fan.
If there is anything that every fan should learn from the rising cost of tickets, food, and cable television packages, it is that sports teams rarely give anything away for free. It just isn’t smart business for multi-million companies looking to squeeze every last penny out of eager fans.
And if a fan is a bit too eager, well you tend to dangle the carrot a little bit for them.
The Chicago Cubs did just that over the weekend when an overzealous fan thought that the best way to free swag was to persevere and try to wear down team’s resolve through their Twitter account. The object of their affection: a free Kyle Schwarber jersey.

Alright, so Mr. Turner asked twice and received a fairly flat “no” from the team. You can’t blame the guy for trying and one would assume that by this point, he’s come to the realization that the jersey just isn’t his for the having.
Or at least we thought so until he came back around on Sunday.

Woo-hoo, Turner’s insistence on scoring the free garment has yielded some results and he has to be psyched to have worn them down a bit. Now all he needs to do is pop them a quick direct message and collect his prize right?
Well, not so fast as Twitter’s direct message rules hold him back from his promised land and the ultimate troll trap is sprung.
@Dakotaturner21 Oh. That's unfortunate.

Game, set, and match to the person on the other end of the Cubs’ Twitter account who gave us the ultimate, “I got some ice cream and you don’t have none” moment.
WARNING – NSFW Content.
I guess Mr. Turner will simply need to pony up the $220.99 like the rest of us.
