Pete Carroll’s name has already been brought up as a USC candidate, but he’s shutting that down immediately

With the USC Trojans in desperate need of a head coach that can take them back to the promised land, we have already heard the name of Pete Carroll brought up. Monday morning Dan Patrick reported on his radio show that USC boosters and alumni would love to have the man back who was the architect of the most recent Trojans dynasty.

However, Coach Carroll might have other ideas … for now.

During his meeting with the media on Monday, of course the Seahawks head coach was asked about the possibility of returning to Los Angeles to resurrect the program, and he wasted no time in shooting down the notion.

Now Carroll was on somewhat bad terms with the USC program when he left, mainly because the sanctions were handed down not long after he left. There was some animosity there for a bit, but that has since disappeared and Coach Carroll is on pretty good terms with the school once again. When you think about it, he would definitely be welcomed back with open arms, especially if he can get that back to where they were when he was there.

But, at least for the time being while he helps navigate the 2-4 Seahawks through the rest of the season, he’s staying pretty adamant that there will be no dramatic return to LA anytime soon.

Carroll coached the Trojans from 2001-09, leading the team to two national championships, plus an appearance in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game, the infamous loss to the Texas Longhorns and Vince Young. During his time with the Trojans, he compiled a record of 83-18.
