The Philadelphia Eagles fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football at Lincoln Financial Field. Then, on Philadelphia’s second offensive possession, Damontre Moore kept its drive alive with a roughing the passer penalty on third down, and the Eagles took advantage.
Philadelphia quarterback Sam Bradford was able to drive his troops down to the New York 32-yard line. From there, Bradford went up top to Riley Cooper, who was able to haul in the pass for an electrifying touchdown.
Incredibly, that is the first Eagles touchdown in the first quarter of any game this season. In fact, Philadelphia only had three points combined in the first quarter through its first five contests of the campaign. For Bradford, it was his ninth touchdown pass of the year.
At 2-3, the Eagles desperately need to beat the Giants. If they can do it, they would move into first place of the NFC East with a 3-3 mark. A loss would not only put the Eagles two games behind New York, but they would also be 0-3 in the division with two of those losses at home.
The Giants would be in terrific shape with a victory, moving to 4-2 and 2-1 in the division. New York could be undefeated right now, if not for a pair of horrific losses to begin the season thanks to poor clock management.
