Troy Tulowitzki belts 3-run blast for Blue Jays
By Ian O'Brien
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has proven to be a valuable trade addition once again, as he hit a three-run home run for the Blue Jays in the third inning in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series. This gave the Blue Jays a 6-2 lead over the Kansas City Royals. They now lead, 7-2, after an RBI single by center fielder Kevin Pillar.
The Blue Jays offense is once again showing its power that overwhelmed many teams throughout the season. Royals pitcher Johnny Cueto is looking nothing like a Cy Young contender. He is instead looking vulnerable in the playoffs again. Here is a video of Tulowitzki proving why he’s the best shortstop in baseball yet again.
The Blue Jays found themselves in a hole in the ALCS as the Royals took a 2-0 series lead. They have taken full advantage of their return to Rogers Centre and come out with their bats blazing. Tulowitzki is having himself an excellent ALCS. He is currently batting .400 in the series with a home run and four runs batted in. The former Colorado Rockies star had previously struggled in the American League Division Series aside from a grand slam in one game. He finished with an .095 batting average against the Texas Rangers.
Although the Blue Jays already had a powerful lineup before the trade deadline, it became even more unstoppable with the addition of Tulowitzki. Combining him with hitters such as American League MVP frontrunner Josh Donaldson can only spell trouble for opposing pitchers, but the Blue Jays still have a big hole to dig themselves out of against the defending American League champions.
