Bill Murray behind Chicago Cubs success

The mystery is solved! Bill Murray is the magic behind the Cubs improbable success. (No pressure, Bill!)

There has been a lot of speculation about what’s behind the Chicago Cubs surprising season. The most probably theory to this point has been that the Back to the Future franchise is actually a documentary of sorts, and the scene in which the Cubs win the world series is real footage of the future.

This theory was very plausible, but we now know what has propelled the Cubs through their phenomenal season. Actor and good-luck-bringer Bill Murray.

He explained his superstitions to Jimmy Kimmel.

Apparently, the Cubs are aware of Murray’s good-luck powers. Cubs manager Joe Maddon asked Murray to touch the lineup card for good luck. Not only did Murray touch the card, but he rubbed it all over his body.

Why did the Cubs still lose? Murray determined he had too many layers of clothing on for that ritual to be effective. He also described changing seats in order to change the momentum of the game, a tactic that also proved ineffective.

Murray may have and an off-day yesterday in terms of his superpowers (his super-superstitious powers), but as one of the most famous fans of the Cubs, Bill Murray surely has had something to do with his team’s amazing season.

And, Marty McFly, if you just arrived here from the 80’s, yes, the Cubs are playing the Mets in the National League Championship Series. Currently down 2-0, the Cubs need Bill Murray to figure out how he can leverage his super-fan power to help his favorite team.
