The Seattle Seahawks are hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive and fairly well when they take on the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium on Thursday Night Football. Vegas certainly sees Seattle as the better team, tabbing it as a 6.5-point favorite over the 49ers in their own back yard, with an over/under of 42, according to OddsShark.

Both teams are 2-4 and trailing the Arizona Cardinals by two full games in the NFC West. Considering Arizona is going to be hosting the lowly Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football to cap off Week 7, the loser is likely to be three games off the pace. Arizona is yet to play Seattle, but already trounced San Francisco at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The 49ers come into the game following a win over the aforementioned Ravens. The victory also came at Levi’s Stadium, meaning San Francisco did not have to travel at all on the short week. The Seahawks sustained a painful loss to the undefeated Carolina Panthers at CenturyLink Field, the second time in as many weeks they relinquished a two-possession fourth-quarter lead.

The major trend here is head-to-head. The Seahawks have absolutely dominated the 49ers in recent years, covering the spread in each of their last eight meetings. San Francisco is also 3-10 in its last 13 games against the spread at home. However, a word of caution for those of you running to the betting window: Seattle is a gruesome 1-6-2 ATS over its last nine contests.

Perhaps the safest bet is the OVER. The 49ers have gone OVER in four of their last five games, while the Seahawks have done the same in six of their previous nine affairs.
