High Priced Wide Receivers

DeAndre Hopkins (8,600): Hopkins doesn’t get mentioned much in the “best receiver in the NFL” competition, but for fantasy football, he’s the option that I like the best due to his rock-solid consistency and the fact that he is an absolute target monster.  On Sunday, Hopkins was targeted 15 times giving him 90 total targets in his six games this season.  He pulled in ten of those 15 passes finishing with 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Texans got a 31-20 win over the Jaguars.  Hopkins has four straight 100-yard games and 148 or more in each of his last three. Through six weeks, he leads the league in targets, catches, and receiving yards.  This week, he and the Texans host the Dolphins who rank 20th in the NFL against opposing fantasy WR. Look for Nuk to keep on rolling, and he makes the safest play of the elite receivers at the top of the salary structure.

Brandon Marshall (7,800): Marshall has been incredibly consistent this season for the Jets. In his five games with New York he has four touchdowns and four 100-yard games.  He has exactly seven catches in three of his last four games and continues to produce steady numbers as his DraftKings price is on the rise.  The Jets are in Foxborough this weekend to face the Patriots which is a good matchup for Marshall since New York may have to take to the air more than they would like if they are playing from behind.

Larry Fitzgerald (7,400): The Cardinals veteran receiver didn’t find the end zone last week as the team dropped a tough game in Pittsburgh, but he still had double-digit targets and finished with eight catches for 93 yards. As Arizona returns home and looks to bounce back,, they’ll face the Ravens who have been crushed by opposing WR this season allowing the second-most fantasy points of any team in the NFL to opposing wide-outs.  In four of their last five games they have allowed over 200 receiving yards to the other teams’ WR with eight WR touchdowns over that span.  Look for the Cardinals to bounce back strong and Fitzgerald to continue tot lead the way in their receiving corps.

Steve Smith Sr. (6,200): Smith is in a tough matchup in Arizona this week, but he is the only receiver the Ravens rely on, and if they have to play from behind Smith could end up with a huge numbers of targets.  After missing just a week after breaking bones in his back (read that last part again), he had ten targets and led the team with 137 yards receiving and a touchdown on his seven catches. He’s averaging 11.4 targets per game, so he’s worth considering even against a solid secondary like the Cardinals.

Jarvis Landry (6,200): Landry was only targeted four times on Sunday finishing with three catches for 42 yards in Miami’s win in Tennessee. However, he saved his fantasy day with a 22-yard rushing touchdown and is still the best option the Dolphins have at WR.  Look for him to post better receiving numbers this week against the Texans as he remains Ryan Tannehill’s top receiving threat.

Week 6 Picks: Odell Beckham Jr., DeAndre Hopkins, Julian Edelman, Brandon Marshall, Jarvis Landry
