As the New England Patriots prepare to take on the New York Jets this week, the team’s Twitter account decided to troll the Jets before deleting it.
It’s the season of savagery on the gridiron and on Twitter. It’s rivalry week in the AFC East this week, as the New England Patriots prepare to play host to the New York Jets.
When these two teams get together, there is never any love lost and the two teams always try to really embarrass each other on the field.
While the game isn’t until Sunday, whoever runs the Patriots’ Twitter decided that they were going to be social media savages before the game is even played. The Twitter account for “Throwback Thursday” tweeted out a picture of the infamous “butt fumble” that to this day has become legendary in Jets lore.
The tweet would be quickly deleted as someone made the decision that trash talking on social media before a game wasn’t the way to go and not very professional.
While the Patriots, with all their recent success, could probably rub it in the face of the Jets about a thousand different ways, they have clearly come to the realization that doing it through social media isn’t the best way to go.
Unfortunately for them, once something is on the Internet, it is there forever.
