The Dallas Mavericks tried to re-sign Tyson Chandler this summer — something the man himself says never was the case.

When the Dallas Mavericks decided to go all-in on signing DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge this summer, they stripped the team of assets that would have financially complicated the situation. One of the biggest pieces the team didn’t bring back was Tyson Chandler, who signed with the Phoenix Suns in their own bid to try and land Aldridge over the offseason.

There was this idea out there that the Mavericks tried to bring Chandler back on a long-term deal that never actually happened. This wasn’t the speculation of beat writers or the rumor mill — it came straight from the mouth of Mark Cuban when Chandler was acquired from the Knicks. But despite Cuban saying he learns from his mistakes, in referencing not re-signing Chandler the first time around, it appears no lesson at all was learned.

Chandler talked with the Arizona Republic and called bull– on the claims that Cuban wanted to bring the center back on a long-term deal.

"“I saw the bull—- they put out,” Chandler said. “It’s just bull—-. Just saving face. It was what it was. It was clear. The whole process was going on while I was basically still in the jersey.”"

It’s safe to say Chandler’s last stint with the Mavericks will probably be the last. Chandler has to realize that basketball is a business but he’s selling the product that teams want and he has the right to refuse service to teams that rub him the wrong way. Mark Cuban isn’t the most cuddly figure in basketball, but there probably won’t be a third time that Chandler puts the trust of his future in the Mavericks owner.
