Odds

No one is going to pick the New Orleans Pelicans to win the 2016 NBA Championship, which makes sense. There are still a ton of talented teams in the Western Conference that they would have to get through to get to that level. Moreover, Anthony Davis is emerging as one of the best players in the league, but he and the rest of his team would have to make a tremendous leap for winning the title to be the way that their season ends.

That being said, Bovada has the Pelicans’ title odds listed at +4000 for the 2015-16 season. Those are the 10th best odds in the league to win the championship, but are only the seventh best odds in terms of Western Conference teams to take home the title at season’s end.

In actuality, though, that’s right about where the Pelicans’ title odds should be. There’s a conceivable scenario where the Pelicans are able to progress and other teams around the league suffer misfortunate circumstances and New Orleans wins the title, even if that’s not likely. The +4000 odds and where that puts them in relation to the rest of the league is a solid reflection of how this team is perceived by people around the league.
