Odds

Despite the fact that the Golden State Warriors are the reigning NBA Champions, they aren’t considered to be the favorites to win the 2016 NBA Champions. Bovada has the Warriors with +500 odds to win the title, which are only the third best odds in the league to win the title. That’s right; the defending champs aren’t even in the top-two in terms of favorites to win the championship.

What’s crazy is that Golden State isn’t even the favorite to win the Western Conference again, an honor that goes to the San Antonio Spurs. You have to take that with a grain of salt as the public is going to bet the Spurs heavy after the addition of LaMarcus Aldridge so sports books have to account for that. However, it just seems absolutely absurd to me that the Warriors would be given such little respect when they have the same team that was historically good and won the title last year.

While they may not be favored in the Western Conference, they are heavily favored to win the Pacific Division title, being given -220 odds to win the title. The only team with odds even close to that are the Los Angeles Clippers at +150, but it’s a tremendous drop off after that with the next closest team coming in with +5000 odds. It would certainly be a shock if anyone other than Golden State tops the Pacific.
