Final Prediction

Save for the Oklahoma City Thunder being healthy and mucking things up in the Western Conference, I don’t see how you can look at what the Golden State Warriors accomplished last season and what they did this offseason and not think that they are once again going to be the best team in the conference once again this season.

One of the arguments that might be brought up in regards to that is, “yeah, but the Spurs got LaMarcus Aldridge so they’re going to be really good this year.” Guess what; crazily enough, the San Antonio Spurs are always a really good basketball team and they were last year. Even if they improve with Aldridge, which isn’t a given when you have to integrate that kind of talent into a unique system like San Antonio’s, the Warriors still won 67 games last season with the Spurs being a great basketball team.

The real question, though, is whether or not the Warriors are going to be historically good like they were last season and if they’ll win the 2016 NBA Championship to repeat. On both fronts, I don’t think that’s going to be the case.

In terms of their 67 wins from last season and the Warriors’ historically great net rating, I just don’t think that those types of numbers are sustainable in this modern era of the NBA. I don’t think it will be a dramatic drop from those levels by any stretch, but I don’t think that they’ll be pushing 70 wins again this season and I don’t believe that their efficiency levels on both ends of the floor will be tops in the NBA.

As far as the title is concerned, the Warriors probably deserve to be the favorites. However, it is just so incredibly hard to repeat as champions in this league. I don’t think it’s impossible for a team that is as well coached and talented as the Warriors, but I also just know how this league has worked the majority of the time in the past. Ultimately, I think the Warriors have another incredible season, but actually even fail to make the NBA Finals.
